The history of the development of the internet goes hand in hand with the long journey of computer development. There is no rejected, nowadays human life in all corners of the world cannot be separated from the influence of the internet.
The internet provides everything to human needs either directly or indirectly.
Starting from just chatting, studying, looking for work, entertainment or other matters, basically the internet has provided unlimited information.
The vast amount of information presented via the internet network makes people sometimes feel at home sitting all day in front of their computer monitor screen to the point where they forget to earn a living for their family.
The central statistics agency revealed the results of its survey, that in 2021 62.10 percent of Indonesian citizens will use the internet network.
Early development of the internet
The history of the development of the internet traces its origins to Uncle Sam's country in the United States in 1969, when computer development in the world had entered the fourth phase.
At first the idea was just to connect computers that were close together so they could communicate with each other and also access information. This connection between computers was first initiated according to history, by the United States Department of Defense with the project code Arpanet (Advanced Research Project Agency Network).

It is clear that the aim is for military purposes only, where information is sought not to be centralized in one place but spread to computers in other places. History records that the Arpanet project has attracted such admiration that several higher education institutions have become interested in using it. Initially the computers were connected to 4 universities, namely the Stanford Research Institute, Santa Barbara, Utah University, University of California, but recently other universities also joined in and registered to use the network.
Considering that there are two conflicting interests in one network, namely for military affairs and education, it was decided to split Arpanet into two, namely milnet or new Arpanet.
Historically, this second combination was given the name darpa internet, and the name was simplified further to become internet. In the history of the development of the internet, the signal for the emergence of the internet was preceded by the discovery of a digital communication system, namely the telegraph.
This was the forerunner to the discovery of the internet. The telegraph machine actually existed in the 19th century with the design of sending data electromagnetically, but ironically it only made two devices via a cable connection.
If the cable breaks due to a tree falling on it, of course data transmission will be a hassle. That's why in the following period, scientists began to think about how to send data without cables. In some historical literature, J.C.R. Licklider, in his scientific work in the 1960s, began to introduce the concept of Man Computer Symbiosis.
This concept lays a strong foundation for computer networks that are connected to one another via communication bands, equipped with storage media and automatic search features.
Two years later, Licklider received an offer from Jack Runia to be appointed as director of the Information Processing Techniques Office, on the Darpa project as I discussed previously.
Documented in history, the main mission of the Darpa project was to build a computer network between the three main computers of the United States Department of Defense, located high in the Cheyenne Mountains. Later, as a result of the Darpa project, ideas for even more sophisticated development were sparked through the Arpanet idea in 1969.
A year later, this idea was successfully realized by connecting approximately 10 computers in different locations in 1970. Along with the history of the development of the internet, in 1972 Roy Tomlinson introduced an email program for communicating electronically.
The following year, the Arpanet network began to be noticed by university colleges in London, as if the development of the internet was unstoppable, it really skyrocketed like an Apollo rocket heading to the moon.
In the next 15 years from 1973 to 1988, history records that 100,000 computers were successfully connected.
History of the development of the modern internet
In historical records, reported from the official source page w3c.org, the peak of the history of internet development occurred in 1990.
At that time Sir Tim Burners Lee submitted a proposal entitled information management to CERN. After I read the original version of the proposal, the contents generally explained in detail the concept of databases and hypertext-based inquiry software complete with a flowchart design for how information could be shared between computers.
Oh yes, you need to know that CERN (Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire) is a European organization that carries out nuclear research. Of course, its members are hundreds of researchers who like to work with data.
Well, the Burners Lee database offer means that research results are stored in HTML (hypertext markup language) format. To write it, use an application he made called enquire.
This will make it easier to share data between researchers via connected computers. Next, the documents are collected and put together in the form of a multimedia document called www (world wide web). In short, www is a connecting gateway between documents on each computer with the same HTML format.
Due to his discovery of www, Sir Tim Buners Lee was named in 1999 by Time magazine as one of the great thinkers of the 21st century. He eventually founded the World Wide Web Consortium and was appointed director of it.

Internet connection type
After the internet network began to be used in various parts of the world, the next development that was inseparable in history was the introduction of various types of internet connections, namely
a. Internet connection using cable This type of connection consists of 4 types of connections, namely
1. Dial up
2. ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
3. LAN
4. Cable TV
b. Wireless internet connection For the wireless type connection category, there are only 3 types, namely
1. GPRS
2. WIFI
3. Satellite
Access These two types of internet connections have their respective advantages and disadvantages. However, if you are after access speed, it is recommended that you use satellite access.
In line with the widespread use of 5G technology in big cities in recent years, it is predicted that satellite-based internet access will become widespread in the next few years. What is 5G technology, what is the history of its development, see the following review
