ROMAN EMPIRE: HISTORY UNTILL ITS FALLEN

"roman empire"
The Roman Empire is one of the most popular royal legends today. There are many stories from the past involving the Roman Empire, one of which is the story about Jesus being crucified by Roman troops on Golgotha Hill.

Indeed, the initial development of Christian teachings all started in the city of Rome which was used as the capital of the Roman empire in the past. So how did the Roman Empire come to be, who was its founder?

Come on, let's look at the review

Founder of the city of Rome

At first the Roman Empire was not yet a kingdom, only a small city that was founded in 753 BC. According to history, there were two founders, namely Romulus and Remus.

Quoted from Wikipedia, according to Roman mythology, the two founding figures of the city of Rome were previously raised by a she-wolf until they were teenagers.

Romulus and Remus were descendants of King Numitor, a king from the Alba Longa region which is located in central Italy or 19 kilometers southeast of the city of Rome.

When they were teenagers, Romulus and Remus had the desire to become kings, instead of waiting to replace their father, king Numitor, for so long, their intention arose to found a new city.

Romulus chose the Aventine Hill, while Remus wanted the Palatine Hill to found the city. Here the two of them did not agree on the place, finally it was decided through a fight between them.

Romulus emerged as the winner, and from then on the construction of the city of Rome began and Romulus was first crowned king of Rome on April 21, 753 BC.

During its development, the Roman empire under the leadership of Romulus often came under attack from Gauls who came from western Europe. As a result of the continuous attacks, the city of Rome was destroyed and the Roman king died.

Leadership of the Roman Empire

The period of leadership in the Roman Empire after Romulus left, then shifted to 10 elected senate members. They were the ones who then prepared the leader of the Roman Empire for the next period, and finally Numa Pompilius was chosen as king for the next period.

The Roman Empire under Numa Pampilius experienced rapid development. He initiated peace with the kingdoms adjacent to the city of Rome. Not only that, the Roman calendar was also changed, with the addition of January and February.

The Roman city area was divided into smaller areas in the form of districts to simplify administrative management. The Roman people were given land for free, and trade unions were created in the economic sector.

After Numa Pampilius died in 674 BC, the leadership of the Roman Empire changed 5 times, namely:

1. Tullus hositilius
2. Ancus marcius
3. Tarquinius priscus
4. Servius tullius
5. Tarquinius superbus

These five Roman kings led the Roman empire in their own ways which brought glory and also destroyed the Roman empire. For example, during the reign of King Ancius Marcius and King Servius Tullius, the city of Rome experienced extraordinary rapid development.

These two kings loved to build their cities. Building factories, prisons, salt factories, bridges, carrying out population censuses were some of the results of their work when they were kings of Rome.

However, during the time of King Tullus Hostilius, Tarquinius Priscus and finally King Tarquinius Superbus, the Roman Empire was involved in many battles with neighboring kingdoms.

These three Roman kings were very happy to fight, because they wanted to expand the territory of the Roman kingdom at that time. Automatically at this time, the construction of the city of Rome did not exist at all, because the costs were used for war.

Ironically, during the time of King Tarquinius Superbus, the Roman Empire collapsed due to war with the Etruscan king in 509 BC.

This year marks the end of the Roman Empire and the transition to a republican form of government.
